E Power Biggs did several records with a Challis Pedal Harpsichord, (Bach Organ works, Scott Jopin, and a collection of Romantic Pieces (March Militaire, Trepak from the Nutcracker). The Harpishord overplucks, however Challis efforts to make a more reliable instrument (tuning stability, less maintenance) had a dark side, he "repaired" an 18th century French Harpischord using some of these same modern materials. Fortunately, what had been replaced was not discarded and repairs were reversed.

Interesting that there are recordings that exist on John Challis Harpsichords. He was so controversial for his use of modern substrates such as Corfram plectra and aluminum honeycomb soundboards.
