logged in as admin, enable a 'topic section' on front page settings via site admin block > appearance > front page. then on front page, turn editing on, add a resource > label, then use the html editor to upload images, add text, hyper links etc. If you decide to use a table to layout your front page items, set the border to '0' so it is invisible. happy moodling!
