Your bar culture comments are right on the money. I live in Appleton and don't drink so believe me I know. The amount of bars and love of drinking is similar in all the Wisconsin towns I've lived in though. I'm curious when you made this though, it's getting quite a bit less safe here, I'm sure someone stole that guys bike by now. rumor has it people from Chicago and Detroit lying about bing Katrina victims is to blame.

I grew up in appleton. No blacks or any other non whites were allowed. Not even the great Nat king Cole was allowed to stay overnight. Great history.

the format of these is effective-- that flat tv journalist thing with social criticism slipped in almost seamlessly. but the endings are the best-- abrupt and oddly redemptive.
