Well kudos for not riding during rush hour you have more sense than most.

Because of the careless inconvenience. I would (and have) spend more money to avoid such scenarios. If affordability is an issue then fight for the price of cab fair to be reduced to accommodate a "limited income." We all have problems. Part of being an adult is solving problems like this. Life blows. Whip your nose, grow up, and deal with it.

The incident I just mentioned took place a few years ago and now our city has more cab services available, so it's not as much of an issue now. It's more an issue of affordability, on a limited income. Why spend $20 by cab when you only need to spend $2.75 by bus? And by the way, we try not to travel during rush hour ... :o)

If it's an inconvenience to them, so be it. Many times during rush hour, we've been asked to wait for the next bus and we do so. If the driver allows us on and others have to stand, they can safely hold on to something so it's not unsafe for them to do so. Really we haven't run into too many people complaining about her taking up the space. By the way, I'm NOT required to help her just because she's family. I do it 'cause I want to.

I continually go WAY out of my way if it means I won't inconvenience others. I don't even cough or sneeze in public. Ever. If wheelchair cabs aren't available as frequently as needed and if the service sucks then there is your challenge. I personally would make enough noise and demand better more frequent service. The cabs suck right now because they can get away with it. Get on their ass and demand satisfaction. Nothing is impossible. NOTHING. Overcome and endure. Make them make YOU a priority

Okay without question being handicapped is worse than being inconvenienced but thats your life. There isnt any changing it. Its your problem to overcome. Dont you see my point that it should be your inconvenience and not anybody else's? Your required to help her because thats family but that problem shouldn't go outside your family. Its your problem. Nobody elses. Wheel chairs take up 2-3-4 seats, not to mention how unsafe it will now be for those who now need to stand during rush hour traffic.

To add to my previous comment, we have taken a wheelchair cab whenever we can, but sometimes it's just not feasible as frequently those cabs aren't available, or you have to wait quite a long time for one. Once we waitedt nearly 2 1/2 hours outside a church after an evening service, because the cab accidentally went to the wrong church and the driver went home for the night when he couldn't find us. It took nearly 1 1/2 hours for me to push her wheelchair home. Would you put up with that?!

It takes very little time to strap a wheelchair down. Most drivers can do it very quickly. The supposed "inconvenience" to others,is NOTHING compared to what most people with disabilities have to go through on a daily basis. My sister uses a wheelchair and I'm always with her when she uses the bus. I can tell you that she certainly does NOT want to wilfully inconveniece others and we take a wheelchair taxi whenever we can.

NO, shame on YOU. I know for a bloody FACT that if it was me in a wheelchair or what have you the LAST thing I would do is make my problem anyone else's but my own. I would never ever ever leave my home knowing I would willfully inconvenience anyone else just because I can't be bothered to seek alternate means of getting myself around. What ways you ask? Thats your problem. I personally would sooner get around by arm power than a bus where I'm sure to hold things up and inconvenience people.
