  • @JackieChilds1 Lagunitas would be fun! or maybe victory....hell even sweet water should deserve a episode: I find quite a lot of their brews quite good.

  • @Seaweedryan It might have been when they first made it, but since then the ABV wars have kinda sifted that upwards into the stratosphere.....

the strongest current beer is 60% alcohol....and pray they don't go any further :x

  • dogfish head is overated maybe the best brewry in their area but they have nothing on even the smallest brewrys in san diego. and i find it hard to beleive that 120 min ipa is the strongest of any ipa

  • @asscass Nothing they have done has appealed to me ( of what i have had ). granted i still have yet to try any of their IPA's , which i still plan to as that I think is my favorite style, on the other hand i havent had anything I dislike from Victory... its just one of them things . im sure my palette will change .

  • @JackieChilds1 why?

  • i hope discovery does this series again with another brewery .not a fan of dog fish head

  • @66045 To achieve 18% ABV without freezing & striping water (eisenbock), dogfish has to be using a gradual feeding & aeration program to jack up the alcohol content. From the examples I’ve sampled, the 18% ABV is an arbitrary value, moreover the Xtremely cloying syrup body would indicate severe under attenuation. Look up the specs on WLP099, instead of concentrated wort they’re adding dextrose, as evidenced by the “corn oil” taste in the 120.

  • @glucanmaximus Nope.

  • I'm fairly certain they dump a few thousand pounds of Dextrose Monohydrate (corn sugar) into all of their “super high gravity” beers/concoctions. In the hands of someone well versed in the process of zymology it attenuates very well, & creates gobs of alcohol. Unfortunately in this beer it’s residual presence (failure to be metabolized by the yeast) lends an Xtremely cloying corn oil adjunct off taste.

  • Living near Rehoboth Beach,we drink this all the time... pricy... but worth it
