I hear a striking resemblance between Daphnis et Chloe and master Claude Debussy's orchestral composition: Nocturnes, Sirenes. One follows the other in there mystical procession of solemn moonlit musing.

My professional music career began in 1962 with an introduction to two music giants, Maurice Ravel and Pierre Monteux. Monteux conducting "Daphne et Chloe'" at his conductor/orchestra [domaine School of Conducting] workshop, at the beautiful Hancock Maine. What an experience!! Rosenthal's great but Monteux - incomparable!! I will, however, value this marvelous recording!!!

Strauss Mahler and Ravel, genius of ouer time. This music is so deep and mystic, it speaks directely to the bottom of ouer souls. Creepy and wonderfull to hear at the same time.
