Thanks for the research video. There needs to be a siren system across the province this is too dangerous and risky an event to not have a good warning system along with education. Alumni - University of Western Ontario

We were just filming the hail when the wind picked up suddenly. How would we know it would turn so badly in a few seconds and then die down just as quickly? There was no warning other than the power going out, we received no Tornado warning. Even if we did go somewhere to hide, that house doesn't have a proper basement anyways, and we don't even live in Goderich, how would we know obscure Tornado knowledge about the town?
Don't assume you know the situation.

@101msfigureskater We were sitting in our home..150 meters from the lake...in Goderich...WATCHING THE WEATHER NETWORK. THERE WAS NO WARNING! They were talking about severe weather hitting Toronto at the time. They showed a radar shot with a storm cell heading across Lake Huron, which we noticed, but they never even commented on it. If Environment Canada issued a warning (as they claim), IT WAS NOT PASSED ON by the Weather Network.

I never realized that Canada had a tornado alley, infact we have 3.

Possible? There was an F3! With 250km winds!

@trw310 no its not. the live about 10 min away, and the first time ive seen a tornado. ive lived here for 8 years.

@101msfigureskater Canada has its own version of "tornado alley", and while the occurrence of tornadoes are no where near as frequent as they are in the US "tornado alley", they are by no means rare or unusual. Goderich is in Canada's tornado alley.

@trw310 actually tornado alley is only in the states

@crewlla My grandpa was a farmer so he always told us kids that when a storm comes, go down stairs, switch every thing off (except one light) and dont come out of the basement utill the power comes back on. I was taught if you are on a bus stick your head between your legs or crawl under the bus seat and hold on. I dont know if it work cause like I said were I am from in canada we have only had one oo tornatoe in 38 years.

I have read some of the coments and well, canada doesnt have to many tornatoes and we have really bad storms that cut out the power but dont cause tornatoes. In the part of canada that I am from we thought we would never get a tornato. we were taught this in school. I have been here 38 years and we have had warnings on and off but no one really knew what a tornato actually looks like close up. Untill one hit us. it only damaged one car and was rated 00 people were actually filming at the time.
@somgify Goderich isn't in a place called 'Tornado Alley'. None of Ontario is in tornado alley idiot. This area has never had such a severe storm in a long time. And you would only know there was a tornado warning if you had a weather website up or listen to the radio. Suppose they were from America where if there is a tornado warning a siren goes off. Goderich doesn't have sirens. They wouldn't know that.
