@DaJustifier I know, but his views are still considered "progressive" by today's standards. Back then the Democrats were the traditional party and the Republicans were the radicals (to varying degrees). Either way, the point is that the media, especially biased media like Fox or MSNBC, can distort whatever anyone says by slicing it up and presenting sound-bites out of context. This is an issue that affects everyone actually, not just liberals.

@disrxt In addition to this, he tried to prevent Oklahoma from becoming a state because he thought that it would become a bastion for the liberals and he didn’t want them to gain extra representation in congress. Oklahoma, just so you know, was hyper left wing and maintained a status as the most likely state to vote socialist from its founding until FDR.

@disrxt I'm a history major actually, I think you're finally getting what I am trying to say. My point is not that conservatives are better or liberals are worse or anything like that. I am trying to make it clear that you cannot blame all problems on conservatives and all on liberals because there is no consistent identifying factor from one era to the next. In any case, Teddy was also a war mongering imperialist with anti-European sentiments.

He supported Unions against mine owners, he broke up Standard Oil, he instituted food and drug regulation and started protecting our enviornment from corporations in Nat'l Parks. The original and most effective progressive POTUS! You can't claim every GOP president was a conservative? Are you that ignorant of the nations history?
