Compatibility with the PS2 was removed because the low-energy laser used for CD's and Blurays burns out very quickly when used in high-energy projection, which is necessary to read the DVD's for the PS2.
So, yeah, I'd like to see Ben make a solution for that! Combine two lasers in one player? Why not?
