  • Studies have shown that EI techniques DO NOT yield reliable intel!

  • @nnjhansen Propaganda. Torture is torture. "Enhanced Interrogation" is a defensive term used by those who torture, but want to resist being put on trial for war crimes.

  • @nnjhansen Doing something painful or that instills fear into another human being against their will is torture -- plain and simple. The "law" of saying one act is OK over another, is just part of an agenda, and political in nature.

  • @whoyouare13 I cannot begin to tell you how little I care if you believe me or not. The fact is that waterboarding, as done during SERE training and by the CIA is an extremely effective form of coercion that does not meet the legal elements of torture. That is precisely why we subject our servicemen to it while not subjecting them to other effective methods that are torturous.

Again, the method was not used in order to get anyone to confess to anything.

  • @nnjhansen I've heard of online wannabe soldiers on here. Never thought i'd actually be debating one. I call bullshit on your military claims and having been water boarded. I'll take the word of ACTUAL soldiers that have been waterboarded over the word of an online wannabe soldier. Yes it is torture. I would be willing to bet anything that if you were waterboarded, they could get you to confess to the 9/11 attacks.

  • @whoyouare13 Yes, it is waterboarding and I and tens of thousands of others have undergone it as part of military training. As we do it to our own men, that is prima facie evidence that it is NOT torture.

The Christmas Day bomber and the Times Square bomber have to the best of our knowledge not led us to uncovering any other plots nor to apprehending any other terrorists.

  • @nnjhansen No matter how you spin it,its still water boarding. Even navy seals who have been water boarded as a part of their training say its torcher. So far the xmas bomber and the most recent one have told us more about their plots than anyone waterboarded combined! Not to mention that we are safer now under Obama than we ever were under bush.

  • @whoyouare13 The interrogation procedures were NOT used to elicit confessions. In fact, they were used to make the terrorist compliant by getting him to answer questions for which we already knew the answer. Once he began answering such questions truthfully he was asked other questions in a non-coercive setting that led to real terrorist plots being uncovered and real terrorists being apprehended. Nothing the Obama admin has gotten remotely compares as best as is publicly known.

  • @nnjhansen you can call it whatever you want, its still water boarding. All the info gotten from that was no good. They told them whatever they wanted to hear just to get them to stop. You get liz cheney to get water boarded and I GUARANTEE they could get her to confess to ANYTHING! They could get her to confess to the murder of Abe Lincoln. Obama's admin using the PROPER proceedures has gotten more useful info. Not to mention has kept us safer than liz's father did.

  • @whoyouare13 Your ignorance of the law and history is simply astounding. The enhanced interrogation techniques disrupted a number of terror plots. As for the Miranda warnings, the only purpose they serve is to ensure that statements made by the person can be used as evidence in a prosecution. In both cases the intelligence value of the information may well have exceeded their value in a prosecution as there is sufficient evidence in both cases for conviction without the statements.
