Rest in peace Mr. Mainer, thank you for all the great music you have brought to us. You will be missed. But I am sure the Father and Son will have a great time listening to you strum your banjo up there in heaven.

Wade Mainer, country music pioneer, credited with inventing the two-finger banjo-picking style that paved the way for the bluegrass era, allowing the banjo to be more melodic, has died. (Sep 14, 2011)
Born in 1907, he was 104. Wade Mainer is the last of the old guard from the 20's and 30's to pass on.

I just got back from the Bill Monroe Centennial celebration where they announced that Wade had passed. He died on what would have been Bill's 100th birthday. There was quite a selection of very old and influential pickers there all of which are probably not long for this world. I just hope the fans will continue to support the young talent that is out there.

What a life-104,and marriage-almost 74 years ! Hope the Grammys,acknowledge him someday with the Lifetime Achivement Award.
