Coverage from TWC of Hurricane Fran as it approaches the North Carolina coast in early Sept. 1996, with live reports from Myrtle Beach and Wrightsville Beach...Thanks to Tony (Hurricaneadventures) for sending me the footage.
6 days without power in columbus county. in a rural area, no power also means no water, because we had well water. we lost all of our pecan trees and a good portion of our roof.
I lived in Wayne County when Fran hit. The worst storm I have survived in my lifetime. I had no power for 3 days, and had to listen to battery-powered radio.
This is awesome. I can't believe you have this! I love how everything on TWC looks ancient compared to now. I remember this hurricane. I live in Robeson County and they turned the power off at 4 pm that day. We didn't get it back until 4 days later. We had a tree come through the roof. I'll never forget the rain and wind. Even though I was only in 6th grade, I still remember it like it was yesterday.
Man...I remember Fran. I waited it out in New Hanover Co. Knocked down a tree in my yard, in fact. Thankfully, it missed the house and cars! I think I was about 7 or 8 when Bertha and Fran hit us.
I was 20 years old when this storm hit. It was a scary experience.
