Records management is the backbone of open government. Without sound records management principles and execution, the public's right to know is compromised. Through self assessment of agency practices and guidance on new technologies, the National Archives is raising awareness of the importance of records management.
In addition, the National Archives is working closely with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to create an occupational series for information managers in the federal government to elevate the prominence of records and information management across the government.
