Time for some new videos so I'm just playing around. This one is a groove in 15 and I solo (seriously warty and all!!) for a bit. I like the groove WAY better than the soloing, but until I can get some gigs recorded, I'll just have to keep uploading little grooves and solo clips for now.

  • Groove in 15... Man I have heard odd meters but I don't think I've ever heard anybody venture there before.

I really dig your playing man. So lyrical!

  • @GaindeBass Thanks man! 15 is usally just broken up as two bars of 4 (=8) plus a bar of 7/8 (=7).. 8+7=15.

if you can play in 4 and are comfortable in 7, it's just alternating between the two, really. or, like this video.. if it's a slower count of 15, you'd have 3-bars of 4 + 1-bar of 3. Not too bad once you get comfortable playing in different time signatures. Soloing over it is harder than playing bass, tho... ;)

  • Hey, what happened to the Zon?

  • @SwedishBass LOVED my Zon but it wasn't quite right (the 6 string, that is). I still play my Zon 4 sometimes and my Zon fretless is still my fretless of choice. I really started to crave something different in a 6 string, tho. Skjold nailed it!

  • @saxajar Awesome bass! congrats man. hope you love yours as much as I love mine! ;)

  • @damianerskine Yeah, since I posted those questions I actually ordered and have already received a ziricote topped 6 string Erskine Whaleback. Quite a bass. I think you may have seen it from Pete...

  • @saxajar It's right up there with the best of them. It's easier to play than most Fodera 6's for me (because of the spacing). Any of those brands play well. The Skjold fits me the best, tho

  • @saxajar I just saw this! I loved that old Fodera but, yeah... that thing was HUGE! The neck's on their 6's are far too wide for me. Great bass, tho

  • @DonaldWaughMusic You sound great man!! Really dug the solo at Redbones and enjoyed your other home-mdae videos as well. I did have a few thoughts, but very minor. You're obviously putting in the work and on the right path. Shoot me a private message or email and we can dialogue more about it (I couldn't find the link to send you a personal msg through your page...)

  • @DonaldWaughMusic I used to practice for an hour or two every day. These days I'm mostly just gigging or shedding for gigs. I probably get a few hours in of actual practice time every week (where I'm working on my playing and not someone else's music). Thanks for the kind words man!

  • @BassDrumsGuitarMasta It's a Boss Loop Station RC-20 (I think). It's the 2-pedal version. It goes for about 300. They also make a single pedal version that works great for less. GREAT practice tool!
