Benchmade 51 Flipping Video

So originally I expected this knife to be a poor flipper due to the weight issue I had with it. NOT THE CASE. I was pleasantly surprised while making this video and looking back through the footage. This thing is FAST. Now, I can't really say that I prefer this to my 43 or 42c or anything like that, but I can tell you that it has it's strong points. The ricochets and finger rolls are a breeze due to the lengthy/light handles and while reviewing and editing the video, I was going to do some slow motion, but I really want you guys to see the speed of this thing without any hiccups.

For you flippers out there, I was using more wrist and arm muscles to keep the knife going and changing direction as I wanted it to. If you are not a collector and don't necessarily have the money to throw down, I would pass on this one. If you are anything but the above, GET IT. It's a great knife.

i can flip but im not very good im still a novice but i can flip and do some basic slips ive oonly owned 1 balisong and it was some CCC so would you recomend it fora beginner, i would have got a 42 but they are now discontinued :(

If you can afford it, I would say go for it. However, I would suggest something heavier for you to build wrist strength. You would be better off buying a Typhoon from KnifeKits.

How does it flip compared to the 42? I was looking for a Bali-EDC, but can also do some intermediate tricks with it. I've owned a 40TR for a while and have gotten used to it.

Not bad flipping at all, but I'd leave out the music next time. Especially that music. I've never heard a worse cover of The Trooper, and I've heard some bad covers. Anyhow, I greatly prefer a bali that makes a bit of noise, but I do hear great things about the 51. Besides that, it's impossible to find a 42 these days. I've been looking for a few years.

cool video... but lose the spinning frame in the beginning, and lose the music. The sound of the bali alone would be much more entertaining than whatever music that is.
