That was my reaction the first time I saw the Dead Seconds Tourbillon in 2004, so I know exactly what you mean! A grail watch that is worth working towards, even if it takes many years! Hope you can wear one some time.

Thank you. I might be biased, but I think so too. ;-)

Based on the official website, this watch has the least number of parts for the movement.

You are correct that at 179 parts, the DS Tourbillon movement has a relatively small number compared to other F.P.Journe pieces (the Sonnerie Souveraine has the largest number at 408 and the Chronometer Bleu has the least at 133). But with tourbillons the work goes into assembling and adjusting the mechanism. That is why we say that the Tourbillon complication showcases the skills of the watchmaker. It is a pity, though, that the cost doesn't equate with the number of components! :-)

Thanks! And I have to agree. The impact of the Tourbillon 'sophistication' has been diluted with so many manufactures placing off-the-shelf tourbillons in the front of their watches in recent years. But it remains a mesmerizing complication when done well. The combination of continuously moving Tourbillon cage with the adjacent dead seconds display in the F.P.Journe, not to mention the remontoir which provides constant power to the escapement, makes this watch very compelling.

It's easy to get bored with just another tourbillon anymore, but this one is very beautifully designed. Spectacular!
