Not sure how to put it into words, but friends,...this is just too jazzed up for a traditional Baptist guy like me. Although the choir does a good job singing,I just did not like this rendition at all. You took a great hymn and ruined it by the way you performed it.
To the 35yr experience director.....honestly you sound to be blowing your own horn. Give this guy a break, like you said, it's entertaining. Creativity is part of directing. I've studied under many directors, all who utilize the same old methods....boring. I would love to sing or play under this guy.
Not to start a back and forth, that is not exactly true. I've been directing for over 35 years. "35 years." This song is not new. It may be older than you, I don't know. I conduct workshops on directing. I was trained by some of gospel's best, Rev. Cleveland, Min. Keith Pringle, and Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. This gentlemen has no directing control. Also, I, too am Apostolic. So, I'm not so inclined to appreicate your last comment. But that is not the point.
