Myst DS - Review

Myst, an amazing game. Myst DS, a horrible port. Aside from the game being less impressive than it was back when the game first came out, the DS version has one of the worst interfaces of ALL TIME!!!

I agree completely. My new intros are five seconds, I almost choke whenever I see this old one. :D

now i agree with you almost completley but 1/10 is a little harsh i would reserve the 1/10 for games like Barbie and crap myst is at lest a 3/10 in my mind

but that dose not matter anywas nice vids

@theendofit
Maybe he likes barbie ?

But seriously they could have done allot better on this port, the DS is capable of displaying clear text. and doing other things this game lacked. The porters of this must have wanted it to fail.

Terrible, terrible port. It was always going to be hard to port Myst to the DS but they didn't even try hard. If the developers weren't so lazy and actually put some serious effort into this and made the controls and graphics a lot better then it would be an enjoyable game.

once you get used to knowing what the icons are for, i dont think its that bad, if you know it well you wont need to pick up any of the notes, the only problem i can think of is that the top screen isnt used for anything except the title screen

I didn't say that the icons were confusing, I said that you couldn't use items because there was no curser.

Also, If I had the entire game memorized, I wouldn't buy it on DS.

The iPhone/iPod Touch version is the best kof the originals IMO. You can take screenshots with ease, so you dont have to worry about many notes, and the controls very responsive. The speed of transitions is super ajustable, rather than the normal speed and Zip settings. The only thing that they could have done was put a slid version of Rime in like the DS version, but it might not have looked that good, and the age was kind of pointless anyways.

I agree with you that the DS port wasn't spectacular. Though considering the port was for a handheld console, I wasn't too surprised. It's just too bad realMyst doesn't support Windows XP otherwise I would be playing it right now. See, that's the only thing the DS version has going, you don't need a specific operating system to play it.
