Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh visited the Australian War Memorial to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier on Tuesday 25 October 2011. This was The Queen's seventh visit to the Memorial.

The Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh walked through the Commemorative courtyard to the Hall of Memory, where The Queen laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier. The Royal party walked along the Roll of Honour to view the names of those Australians who have died during the Afghanistan conflict. The Queen met veterans and current serving defence personnel.

After the official part of the visit, The Queen talked to members of the public at the front of the building and accepted flowers from children. Once the Royal couple had left, many people, including children, gathered on the front steps before going into the Memorial.
