Here is the first episode of How I Did That (HIDT). In this pilot episode I go over, condensly, how I created a DVD menu using Vegas Pro and author it in DVD Architect Pro, both Sony products. This is an INCOMPLETE instructional. It's an OVERVIEW of the steps I took to create the DVD Menu (plus a couple of questions get answered that were asked of me). I will be covering the complete work flow for DVD Menu creation in a later HIDT Episode.
*Notes*
You cannot hear me in some parts because I had the music for the videos up to loud during recording; I fixed some of it during editing, but not all. Also, I only have a 2.1 gHz single core Athlon PC with 2GB RAM and an nVIDIA 7600 GS w/512 VRAM - so my system is not really ideal for today's fancy schmancy software, or true HD Editing for that matter - but I chug along. Ultimately, I found out I need a better video card, but as my motherboard is PCI 2/AGP 8x (no PCI-e) - I'm assed out of current options.
All in all, if just ONE person learns SOMETHING from this, I'm happy. Peace!

This looks like a great video, but the audio levels on your voice are way too low, so I can't make out what you're saying if there's any other background noise (which there is... a lot...)

@blackwebb30 Part 1: Quality depends on what is being sourced as well. Render out to "Best" from Vegas Pro, if you're making HD videos, use the "DVD Architect (24p) NTSC (Widescreen) video stream" templates . Choose "Custom" to set the aspect ratio, also set the "Profile" & "Level" both to "High"; set Level to "High 1440" if you're project is 1920x1440. REMEMBER you're project's aspect DVD output aspect is different, DVDs are ALWAYS 720x480 - ALWAYS.

@R3ALSimShady Yes, I can help. First of all you cannot open videos directly into DVD Architect, it opens DVD Architect Project Files or DAR files. These DAR files contain the media for your DVD.You must first create a DVD Architect Project, then use the INSERT menu item and choose MEDIA, a folder dialog opens for you to select the video (media) you want on your DVD. The file will automatically be placed on the project's workspace. I hopes this clears up the confusion about opening videos.

is there a way to make the qulity of the dvd better some how?...my quality. sucks
blackwebb30 11 months ago
@blackwebb30 Part 2: When you render the DVD select "Burn", then "Next", then "Optimize". From here you can set the bitrate of the DVD by setting how much of the DVD is used. Setting it above 100% may cause issues. You can aslous e"Fit to Disc" Also, clicking each resource (video or audio) and customizing the Aspect, resolution, and bitrate may improve quality. Hope that helps.
