I've been listening this album again, he was definitely at his best vocally that year. He should have won over Micheal Jackson for best vocalist that year.

The verses are in A major, the first two choruses in Fmajor and the last one in BbMajor. That's a fact, I do have the sheet music and checked this video by playing it at the same time on a keyboard.
