In Southern California (we live in the San Diego area) we have recently been put on water rationing due to the severe drought. In an effort to save our planet and help conserve water we have decided to replace the sod grass at our Boston Terrier puppy breeding business Puppies-Dot-Com.com with Pregra synthetic grass. This will reduce our water usage and the water bill that has gone through the roof since the City increased water rates so we are looking forward to reducing our water bill too. This Do It Yourself video shows how anyone can install a beautiful synthetic grass lawn at your home or business.

  • What turf did you use? where did you buy it, and how much per square foot? I am almost ready to do our back yard. Thanks! I am in North San Diego County.

  • @ethanm3 It is in the Video. Pregra turf from Costco.

  • can the grass be cleaned with a light pressure wash?

  • @bchamorro We have a dog breeding business so we use a spray cleaner and then a spray nozzle on our hose each evening.

  • @bchamorro We use a mixture of 1/3 Bleach, 1/3 Dog Odor inhibitor and 1/3 disinfectant. We then put that in a spray bottle that attaches to a hose at 1-tablespoon per gallon spray rate.

  • Hello and Great Job on your lawn! My wife and i are considering doing the same thing. How many inches thick is the sub-soil, or crushed granite? What was your approximate price per square foot cost on your installation? Cheers!

  • The sub-base is about 3" inches thick. I figure it cost me about $5 - $6 per sq ft including grass, equipment rental, sub-base, etc. I had some family have theirs put in by others and it ran about $12 per sq ft so you can save about 1/2 by doing it yourself.

  • @slipknot2k4 only 500,000 gallons of water should last her a while. she can have it as long as we don't listen to her music Alles Klar?

  • @slipknot2k4 well if you guy would stop celine dion from filling up that big pool with millions of gallons of water, there would be no shortgae .

  • @supersnowyangel do you rather want real grass and trees then run out of water? not all states have unlimited source of water and second take space science classes

  • @H4rryy besides its ok for about a year then you have to paint it and maintaining so most people just end up figuring out natural sol is a lot cheaper

  • @cddilo ive just seen a news clip on youtube about dangers of artificial grass and the rubber used contain traces of metals that cause cancers... check it out.

  • For those in Australia that don't want to do DIY, I highly recommend smartgrass (just Google them).

I was thinking of doing DIY but decided to get it done by the pros cos I'm not too handy and a little time-poor. Very happy with the result. Good video though. Thanks! :)

  • @cddilo Thanks :) What is a spray cleaner?
