In this tutorial I show you how to do a database merge to create a webpage with a list of data based on a dataset from an external data source, such as a database, or Excel spreadsheet.

Don't forget that everytime you update the datasource to redo the merge.

If you would like to see a tutorial of anything from MS Word, MS Excel, MS Acces, MS PowerPoint, MS OneNote, Serif WebPlus X2/X4, Serif MoviePlus X3 post it in the comments.

  • What happens if your database has over 700 records, a parts list for instance.

  • @bikerix1 Should be fine

  • I followed the instructions on the video, but when merging to site it comes up with my home page and will not merge to the page I added the information to, any Idea's would be helpful.

  • @bikerix1 Are all the fields within the merge area?

  • I would be interested if you could make a video on how to set your website up so that it writes data to your database ie register details etc

  • @TheReimber Hi

WPx4 doesn't have the ability to wrote data straight to a database in the manner that you are asking. It only has a very simple merge facilty.

  • Hi, this tutorial is great. Is it possible to dynamically merge the info, so that for instance, if I just update the price of the cars on the excel file, the prices will be updated on the webpages that uses this info ? Thanks!
