The Colt Model 1911 is the grandson of the Colt Model 1905 Military Model. This is the first Colt automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, and still needed development before the US Military would accept the pistol as it's new 20th century side arm.
Please note: this pistol is refered to by collectors as a "Colt Model 1905" but is shown in advertisements by Colt's in the time period as "Military Model". This highlights Colt's hopes of having this pistol accepted by the US Military.

  • how much would a gun like this cost? I have one thats military issued and has 1905 1911 and 1913 ingraved on them?

  • @str8lowrider Unfortunaltely they cannot be appraised without seeing it. Originality, finish and overall condition are all contributing factors in determining the value.

    thanks for watching!

  • does this have the same issue with the retaining pin and the slide coming off?

  • @lynette1953 Yes, that is the common point of failure in this early Browning design, the slide removed off of the back of the frame. That flaw is corrected in the 1909 design.

    thanks for watching!

that is not the trigger bow,. the trigger bow is what the trigger shoe is attached to, the shoe is the actual thing you put your finger on, the bow surrounds the magazine in the grip and actuates the sear, thus firing the pistol. FWIW. great vid though and a beautiful weapon

  • oh shit. nevermind my comment on the m1902 video. how much are these old colt models?

  • Just So Much To Learn !

  • @SacoreyRugger this pistol design is the grandfather of the 1911. The 1911 frame angle is different and the magazines will not interchange.

    thanks for watching

  • @jayrod68 I've often wondered what kind of cool old firearms are collected in the gun "buybacks" and destroyed without anyone understanding the history they represent.

  • what sort of mag is that it looks conspicuously 1911
