it happened to me when I was in Germany.. I'm not exactly black.. but since I'm a brownish person, they didnt allow me in.. it was the first I was victim of racism

When they say 'foreigner', they almost always mean 'black'. I know that sounds harsh, and I personally don't mean anything by it, but I've actually seen black people rejected from restaurants and other places that I've been allowed in without any problems.
Having said that, it might also be because you were attempting to go in alone. If you're WITH Japanese people, and they can see and hear you talking Japanese, then they'll never kick up a fuss. They're suspicious of LONE foreigners, really.

Were you a thug lookin', pants saggin' gold teeth havin' "gangsta" wannbe (black, white or otherwise) I could understand not being granted admission; but if in fact you weren't allowed in because of your color, then I feel for ya. You speak well, and seem very mild mannered; taking it much better than I think I might.
