A. Thank you again, for all your advice! it is very helpful!!! I really appreciate it. -
@maxevans05 No, I don't know of any teachers there. I recommend the channel of MrCafiero - a voice teacher in Miami. He may know of someone in Maine. I wish you all the best.

@JussiPaul : Originally, I'm from Vietnam. I'm a studying abroad student at Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, U.S. Do you know any good teacher around this area? I'm 21 now, and really love singing, but I think I have been singing without true technique for a while leading to my fixated high larynx. I like Jonas Kaufmann because of his interesting dark but ringing tone, but I definitely could not read his complex techniques through videos only. I'll look for more old school singers. Thank you!!!

@maxevans05 I could be wrong but from what I can hear you are probably a tenor. I would advise you not to listen to Jonas Kaufman though as he sings with an artificially low larynx and you might be copying him. Listen to the old singers if you really want to hear good technique. You need to find a good teacher soon. Where are you based?

Hello, JussiPaul! Thank you for your video! I have two videos of me singing O Del Mio Amato Ben and O Del Dolce Ardor. I wonder can help me identify if I am a lyric baritone or a potential spinto tenor? I haven't developed a good head voice yet. But it seems that I start to struggle a lot in F#, and G. but my technique is not good, resulting my larynx to go up as I go higher (even from D4 to G4). I hope you can give me some advices. Thank you in advance.

@steveyk I'd guess that you're a tenor though you could be a high baritone.
I'm 19 and no real singer but I took singing lessons from a classic soprano and she said I was a lyric tenor. But I just feel I can't agree with that, I have a hard time hitting high notes (Tom Jones top note at the end of Delilah is really hard for me and he was a baritone). I have a clip on my channel of me hitting the four C's in tenor range (C2 to C5) so mabey you could take a look and tell me what you think of my range. Mind you though it's no good performance, I was really hoarse that day.

@casgo11 The last note you sing is an A not a C but you sound like a tenor to me. I think you might be pressing the back of your tongue down. Try the same scale with your tongue sticking out a little bit and see if that helps. Many famous tenors today sing with a depressed larynx which sounds ok for a while but creates problems later in their career.

@JussiPaul Thank you very much for your advice! I know the last note is a bit off but I think you are right about me pushing my tounge far back, when trying again with my thoung sticking out it created a much more natural and relaxed sound, more like the C4 in my clip. The reason I belive I'm no real tenor is my inability to sing high notes without it sounding strained and also the fact that I have no tenorish voice colour or timbre.

@casgo11 At 19 unless you are a light tenor you won't have your true voice yet so give it time and you will gradually start to sound more like a tenor. I couldn't sing an E above middle C when I started. High notes are all technique. Good luck!
