I post this as proof of Phoebe's death, as some doubt that the video that I made on that day regarding this event. It is painful for me to remember that day, the morning of April 18th, 2008. My grief was tainted with regrets. Regrets that I did not listen too well to her in the last month of her life. Her screams, which became unbearable as unbeknown to me she was in great pain. And I did not see it then. And then she fell silent... And when I at last noticed that she was gravely ill... It was too late. I spent two months working with her to regain her health.

And she loved me to the end...

May she rest in peace.

And I have learned from her to listen to and care for the other two birds that I adopted several months later from others that could not care for them. Scooby, a Quaker parakeet, and Gabby an Umbrella Cockatoo... both were neglected, not cared for or listened to. But now they have all that I can offer them so that they will have good lives. And I will have no regrets...

  • I see Pheobe was a plumheaded parakeet. I was looking up information about cremating my bird when I stumbled upon this. My plumhead parakeet Zoey died yesturday, early in the morning so I understand this heart wrenching pain you show here. I miss my girl. It's obvious how much you loved your Phoebe.

  • @tobiasmom1 Yes, I kept her ashes in that special box. It grieves me even two years later. Then I got "Scooby" a feisty male Quaker that the original owner could not keep. Fed the wrong things for years, and he had lost two toes. I later found out why.. Diabetes. He went through several bouts, and I noticed that he was biting his toes hard. I tried to save Scooby and later he died on 01/23/10 as I held him to my chest. I wept for him and have his ashes, too. He was such a good bird

  • watching the video of you holding her and hearing you talk just makes me feel so sad for you i tried so hard not to cry i feel your pain its just that you sound like such a sweet nice person then seeing you sad just makes me wana cry.

  • @asiangamers32 I love birds, always have from childhood. And it must be genetic trait as it has been so with my family for generations. My Grandfather wept for months whenever he looked at the empty cage that was for his canary which he had for nearly 20 years. He loved that bird. I have adopted birds from those that could not care for them. And I provide for them in their imposed captivity. I love my birds, They should be free... But raised by us... They are dependent on us.

  • I once let my bird ouside ( in the cage ) and i forgot to put him back inside,( party in a hurry ) and when i was talking to my aunt, i told her that i forgot to put him inside. When I came home, he died. The other bird was scared.

  • This was so sad to watch. I was looking up info about cremating my bird and this came up. I just lost my plumhead parakeet Zoey yesturday. It's obvious how much you loved Phoebe and I can certainly understand that heart wrenching pain you show as I'm feeling it now too

  • It's sad how the most beloved things in life can go away... Atleast the bird had a long happy life.

  • Watching this makes me think of how we're getting my dog cremated. :( Damn, I was trying not to cry again...I failed.

  • Dear SRSchoner, I feel your pain. My wife and I are both 'bird parents' and feel the little guys are better than most people. Do you subscribe to a magazine called 'BirdTalk'? From time to time they run articles on grieving for companion birds. They put my wife and I in touch with site in the online community that are of great help dealing with grief issues. If you need help we suggest you go there. They helped us. We are praying for you and Pheobe.
