Okay, so here is my newest McDean Vid!
This was a request from Gopher77, I hope youll like it hun! Youve been a fantastic help throughout the making of this, both with ideas, such as the rain, and a constant encouragement, helping me through vidding blocks and letting me vent. Some of the ideas, both the effects and clips, have come from you, this video wouldnt be half of what it is without your input and support! Thank you so much and I hope that well continue speaking! :D

Summary:
This song is full of nostalgia, of longing and regret- the emotions I believe that both John Paul and Craig felt after their initial break-up at the airport. Much of this video is set at this time- where theyre both wondering what it could have been like, wishing that things could have been different, longing for the other one to be there with them. Another section is when they meet again and their feelings then... and reflecting back the happy and sad points of their relationship, from their first meeting, until the end.

PS:
This video brought me hell on earth to render, and then to upload, and I know that there are some glitches are in the vid, and I apologise for that but I just... couldnt go back and try and save it again. Im very sorry, and I hope you like the video regardless. Im also sorry about the bad quality... i dont know what went wrong. At least when putting it in HQ quality, you can see the rain in the background... *shrug*

Thank you! I cheated a bit on the disappearing bit... I used the clip where Craig put his hand on JP's shoulder as a top layer, and then put the clip where its JP on his own underneath, sitting at the same place JP did in the other clip... then cut Craig out... I hope that made sense... if it didnt, I'll try and rephrase it... :D Thanks for commenting!

I admit I'm a bit confused at what you just said. What program do you use to make your videos?

I use Sony Vegas Pro to edit my vids (seriously best programme ever!) Erm, well in other words... I cut Craig out of the scene he was in originally (using whats called the masking tool) and put that on top of the shot where JP is sitting on his own on the staircase... then faded craig out of the other clip to make it look like he was disappearing....is thats a bit better explained? Sorry, Im completely useless at explainations...:S

That was really beautiful and the effects were truly amazing. I teared up a bit, and Im not a very weepy person. Its kind of hard to believe its all over. Definitely favorited.

The dialogue you let shine through was just right and shows how much these two individuals care for each other and the blending of this music and their story makes for an even better story. You have given such a glow to these clips and it is clear that you put a lot of heart into this project, perhaps that is why it is the best John Paul and Craig fanvid I have ever seen. The clips you used to show the progression of their relationship from that first glance to the current state of it completely capture the sadness and joy of their love. Near the end, when bars of film showing future glimpses of their reunion scroll through past scenes in which the boys struggle, light and hope is seen in those moments of darkness. I enjoyed how you used the closeups of the boys and put them side by side so that we can see both of their reactions during a scene all at once.

Much like the song, these two never got used to their separation and forgive each other so that they can be together again. I love how you show the parallels between the past and present. A certain spot in which John Paul is after the departure of Craig as well as upon his return triggers a flashback of the past when the two were together in that same spot. Craig revisits places of his hometown, and scenes from the past play when he and John Paul were together and meeting at those same places.

Another great effect is the echoes of their words spoken to each other, you can see how the times they shared together linger within them. The disappearance effect of Craig is significant in showing all that they have missed out on by being apart, what they each have missed in the life of the other, and also how much they missed one another. Although John Paul has his halo (Kieron), no one could replace his Craig.

I appreciate how, instead of using the black and white film technique, you displayed the scenes from the past with the vertical line scratches like those seen in aged films which show the strains of time without desaturating the quality of the clips, very old school cool.

It was a long year indeed. This video is a beautiful work of art and it has such a plethora of meaningful layers that I probably will not be able to address each one of them. For me, the rain effect symbolizes a storm that the two of them went through and the repetition of the words for blue skies in this perfect song you chose is like the calm after the storm which is exactly how I understand the adversity that John Paul and Craig face and the triumph they finally experience...
