From the album The Cold Hard Truth. A gospel song about the transitions in our lives from our youth to our middle age. George is known as the Old Possum because of how how his choices led him into the "Valley of the Shadow of Death" and survived to thrive. There's something good to be had by playing possum sometimes y'all. God bless ol' George.

  • Country music at It's very best. Mr. George Jones

  • Country lyrics are usually about life without need for hidden meaning. Written by Billy Yates and Mike Curtis, you'd almost think they had ol' Possum in mind, but like all good country music, it applies to us all.
