A clip from "Getting Gilliam" by Vincenzo Natali shows Terry Gilliam talking to Jodelle Ferland about the word "derivative" in reference to a school book report on Tideland. Perhaps he's not as close to being a 9-year-old girl as he'd like us to believe.

  • I love Jodelle and "Tideland"...do you have any more clips like this? Thanks for posting this one! =)

  • Sadly I don't. I ganked this part from a rented DVD copy of Tideland before returning it.

  • Gilliam would rock as a teacher.

  • This is lovely. It's always best to talk to children without patronizing them, in order that they become smarter.

  • @Jamesbharris2 Fair enough mate

  • @doogiedog1234 I don't really feel passionately about this to be honest, I think there are lots of ways to teach children. I myself have primarily taught adults business English, and I don't think I'm in a position to generalize. I think what mainly makes kids smarter is their own interest in things, and it's about encouraging that.

  • @Jamesbharris2 seriously man she probley didnt understand 90% of wat he was talking about then... becasue he was speaking to her as if she was 16... how is that going to make her smarter.. shes a kid. and should be treated like a kid.. i think this clip is funny tho... but id be worried if people were under the impression that this is wat u do to make a child smarter.

  • @znikacz that fact that he comes to conclusions based upon his own direct experience rather from large scale research shows bias in his finding... and has no defining statistical evidence to back up his imaginative thoughts.. the fact he came up with these conclusions 100 years ago.. all these things aren't very convincing.

  • @doogiedog1234 Read some of Rudolf Steiner's work for instance.

  • @Jamesbharris2 bullshit... give me one scientific paper which shows that conclusively

  • 'oh'

  • thats funny, about emerich really funny

  • It's like you acting like Nick Nolte.

  • @Luvzi12 I thought she got it earlier and her voice went up because she was being complimented? :)
