  • Just stick to the rubrik of the lesson, teach them grammar and vocabulary they need to know, smile, be friendly but firm, speak slowly and clearly, drill, review often, slow down when necessary, change activities frequently, wake them up when they're falling asleep, relax them when they're overly excited, etc. etc.

  • I have found that a great technique is to practice present moment awareness in the class. Feel your emotions and those in the air. Don't impose your wishes on the moment but follow the spontaneous development of the class. Don't talk more than is necessary. Don't ask yes or no questions. Grammar just comes up in conversation. But for older students who are grammar crazy, there is just no way around rote grammar presentation.

  • good subject, how do you get elementary students interested in your teaching?
