@GliTCH11 It feels good to see a comment like yours among all these dozens of stupid comments.

@thenenebello21 Yep, the fishy thing is that you've never seen a school from the inside.

@valeofsecrecy First off, most of it is just vibrations. Secondly, at this altitude there is still a lot of air. You have to understand that the atmosphere doesn't just stop at some fixed altitude. It gradually decreases. Even in interplanetary space there still are about 1 million molecules per square meter. A "perfect vacuum" doesn't exist in nature.

True because the microphone is mechanically coupled to the SRB, all the mechanical vibrations will still be received, the sound waves are not being transmitted directly by air. Anyway the majority of time the SRBs are still in the atmosphere.

Thought there was no sound in the vaccum of space?

Check out "weather balloon camera" and see what people the images from Earth for just a few hundred dollars.

@thenenebello21 Sound is vibrations. The camera is mounted on the side of a rocket booster that is essentially a giant metal tank that has now become empty, but the circuitry inside is still trying to make it work. Even in a total vacuum the sound of metal groaning would be translated into the camera by the vibrations on the mic grill.
imagin. being HIGH and in SPACE. The ultimate trip!
