What are you calling "metroid-vania game" ?
Why does Metroid come here ? What's the link with Castlevania ???
For me all the castlevania are the same (except Circle of the Moon with its card system and Order of Eclesia with the glyph system).

Castlevania 2 is a non-linear adventure, just like classic metroid, and every other metroid-vania game. Those are the two original games that started gameplay like such. Super Metroid and SoTN just added the interface we're so used to.
-
@TranceCore3 not quite, even though you have to return some time to places you previously visit the gameplay is still a lot different that on SotN
-
It's not. This is the same richter from Dracula X, where he walked as slow as simon, and had very stiff controls. He can still throw daggers at break neck speed, but the SoTN richer is much more advanced than this.
-
The credit actually goes to normal metroid. The first castlevania to play in a metroid style was castlevania 2.
-
@TranceCore3 well, actually the credit comes from Super Metroid, sure i agreed that SotN is great, but way too overrated, the new games based on SotN are better (well some) i dont doubt that they make a jewel with SotN but that game wouldnt be born if wasnt for Metroid series
-
Ofcourse the newer castlevania games are gonna be better than SoTN. If SoTN were to get a sequel, or a remake, it would probably blow the newer games out of the water. The reason SoTN is praised so much is because it set the record on what a metroid-vania game should play like, as far as exploration goes. I honestly feel that AoS, and HoD were much better, gameplay wise (sort of) but you have to give credit where credit is due. without SoTN, we wouldn't have any of those gems today.
-
@TranceCore3 no dude, the gba and DS castlevania (which share the gameplay of SotN) , i mean for me who play those version before SotN i can say some arre much better (DoS and OoE)
-
There's a GBA and DS version of the game? Never knew that. SoTN is only on PS1, Saturn, Xbox 360, and PSP. You can count PS3, if you count the PS1 downloads. In either case. It's a good game. I did play pretty far into Dracula X, but I found my self playing both remakes more than the 3D one. The redone voices in SoTN were great too.
Anyway. I'm not trying to praise it, as I think it's pretty over-rated (Dracula X, probably being really close behind it) I just enjoy the Metroid-vania style.
3:29...a succubus blowjob?? hahahaha!! it seems so ;P
