Tucker Barrett electric violin - Starship Troopers

This is the visual glory of a Tucker Barrett green acrylic Luma EV-5 5-string electric violin as featured in the 1997 film Starship Troopers. These violins are no longer being made as of November 2006. The actual electric violin audio was played by Kat Evans on a Violectra custom 5-string.

There are two pieces played in this scene - the first one with the faster tempo is "Dixie". I don't know the name of the slower melody played during the slow dance at the end of the scene. I suspect it may be part of Basil Poledouris' original score, but I can't confirm that.

And the actor isn't playing the violin, the actual violinist is a "she". :)

Is the Dixie-Song (first part) with the electric violin available as mp3 (in original without the background noise)?

I like this song and would like to have it in good quality and full length. Its not on the official soundtrack.

Actually, Jake Busey IS playing. He learned just for this role. He also plays guitar, Bass and Drums. Zoë Poledouris , who wrote several other pieces for the movie, does not play the violin. It is all Jake, and he is GOOD.

I read an intervuiew with Jake Busey not long ago and yes, he is playing. He actually learned to play just for the movie. He also plays drums, bass and guitar in several bands. He's a very accomplished musician.
