I feel most alive during the winter time when all the green things have died and the world looks bleak because I become conscious that I'm still warm and vibrant.

I think there should be a Vlogbrothers excercise game:

5 push ups every time John messes with his hair

10 Jumping Jacks every time Hank humps something

15 crunches for every Yeti reference

    etc and so forth

    any like this idea?

And also: Oskar Werner. When I am reading to children... that is pretty alive... they make me think about things differently.

That's too bad, you get things from reading that you can't get from other types of entertainment and media.

I kind of agree. I think it depends on what you watch and if it's meaningful to you. I also watch DW and Supernatural (and soon I'll watch Sherlock too) and I think they both have something important to say. I think the problem is when we start watching tv and don't care about what we're watching. A student in one of my classes talked about how she'll just watch tv to do something, even if she doesn't like what she's watching. I think that's when we get into trouble.

Awesome video. I found a youtube interview with Ray Bradbury saying the title as 'four-five-one' not 'four fifty-one' but I don't suppose it really matters...

Search for 'Discussion with Ray Bradbury'

The timing of watching this video is interesting. It relevantly appears when I'm most desperately searching for the answer to the question it poses. Here's to the hope that my search for an answer never falters

I hate that television is always demonized in literature. I spend a lot of time watching tv, but I'm still happy and relatively mentally healthy(social anxiety). In fact, I'm probably happier because I have tv to distract me from all the other shit going on in my life. Sherlock, and Doctor Who, and Supernatural are like therapists for me. They show me that there is something else out there, there is another universe in which I can be a meaningful, useful, living thing.
