Watched all 13. Great instructions Rick! Have been using a GY HM100U for news production over the last 16 months and have been making do. Your series, however, clued me in to or clarified the use of several controls on the camera.
Had overlooked use of AE +/- in full Auto mode. Had overlooked Gain settings within the menu. Had overlooked correct setup of WB preset (menu) and A/B using AWB and white in specific environments. And audio I overlooked...(24 characters left). Thanks again

The best instructional videos I've seen. Pleas make some of final cut pro. Thank you so much, I know so much now, when I knew absolutely nothing until I viewed your videos.

does anybody know the size of the lens?
-
@biskeybee I had to buy final cut pro. i did not know that you MUST have final cut pro to use this camera.
-
it works with my final cut express and my quick time on my macbook pro laptop but when i put the clips on my imac it only plays audio, and the quicktime is the same version i have in my laptop, so why do i get no video????

Any ideas for us camcorder owners how to make money with cameras?
iMovie does not support the recording formats of this camera natively. The unit are designed around Final Cut Pro. FCP has many codecs included in it's standard package. One of them being Sony XDCAMex codec which is what the JVC GY-HM100E uses. Lowering the resolution will not solve your problem. FCP will.
