Colossal popularity of "Tango Notturno" in Poland in the season 1938/39 (could not have lasted longer...) and in post war time. Sung by nearly all singers.

"Syrena" label in late 30s was a sort of experimenting with technique and even sides being now in good condition have some 'natural' surface noise. As for me - I always try to make a record sound as it actually does.

The other thing is, which I always repeat, "historical storms" over this country made that today these discs are very difficult to be found, nobody cared for years.

I didn`t know before there had been also Polish versions - both of them also beatiful, each in its own way - of the "Tango Notturno". I have a German disk by Electrola (without singing) and a Latvian record by Bellacord-Electro (with a Latvian-language vocal refrain). Jurek, dzenkuje one more time for this acoustical feast!

I enjoyed this very much with the Polish lyrics. Beautiful arrangement and singing. I had my mother listen. She loved it and thanks you. It brought back memories of a young man singing this to her when she was a young girl in Poland and then dancing the night away with my father to this tango years later. Tango Notturno is one of her favorites.

@johnkim100530 This is a tango from a German film, sung originally in German by a Polish actress, Pola Negri. Your view is superstitious and ridiculous. Actually Polish and Russian tangos are the most beautiful of them all.
