In June 2008 I responded to an ad in The Charlotte Observer Newspaper for 1950's-60's cars to be used in a movie. The book "Blood Done Sign My Name" is about racial violence in the South and they needed cars for the background of the funeral scene. They also cast me as an extra wearing an NC State Trooper uniform. This video is of the vintage Police cars used in several scenes.

  • This movie is now in theaters. One of these car is flipped over in one scene and the crowd gets up and stomps all over it.

  • I actually own that 1971 Plymouth Fury...cool stuff !!

  • There were a few cars in the shot that were not really the right years for this movie. I think this incident happened in 1968 or 69 so the '71 cars weren't even thought of yet, but most people wouldn't know that...

  • i was also an extra in the blood movie & i drove that first police car in a couple scenes. man it was hot outside those couple of days!

  • Yes, and then it rained in the afternoon. The production staff told everyone to pile into the cars and by then they were about 130 degrees inside! I had two of my own classic cars there for the background shots, a 1960 Pontiac Catalina and a 1963 Bonneville Convertible. The people who piled into my cars totally trashed them with mud. The humidity made it smell like wet dogs had been in my cars... Jeesh! Otherwise a pretty cool experience, though. When's it coming out?

  • That's funny. It's more like 250 feet. I guess I didn't mention it was 97 degrees that day and that I had walked UP the hill first before walking down it to do the filming. Oh yes, and talking, walking and filming is different, a bit more taxing than just standing in front of a camera.

  • When watching the Andy Griffith show, it looks like the cars they used were more of a flat black with the white. Is that due to the dusty set, the film they used, or were they more of a non-gloss color?

  • really nice old school cars better than todays

  • you cant beat the classics :)

  • I think I saw Otis passed out drunk in the back seat of one of the cruisers.

  • that was so cool that they all signed it; it's a piece of history!
