A+.Very well done Mike. My departure from your technique is I prefer taking 10 minutes to cut a 7 foot long sapling with 3 or 4 branches splitting off, to make a pitchfork device to rake leaves espec. when abundant. For a few reasons.A Doggy-dig method is fast but requires more calories to balance your bent over body.You risk straining neck or lower back muscles + your hands risk splinters,bites or bad cuts that can turn septic. Poisonous snakes,bugs etc have been known to hide in leaf litter.

In the old days we didn't buy rakes. We spent a few minutes making a large brush broom to rake leaves. It looks like a large "halloween witch broom".

@jsadler14537 ill try that

@zsxwrsd I slept in one of his debris shelters in weather cold enought to free water and it go so hot in there I had to get out. .... I'm not saying he invented the debris shelters, I'm saying he built it. Want to warm it up add more leaves on the ground and make a leaf pile infront of your entry door once you climb in.

Did you co author the book wilderness survival?

@primitiveskillz Yes I did, though the publisher sure did a number on the title and description. I have a more recent book out, far more comprehensive...thanks for watching.
