  • This recording is much better than her '36 recording. The band sounds wonderful in that one, but the piano accompaniment here just highlights her voice. Thanks so much for posting.

  • When Billie sings, you can feel her soul. She doesn't have the range like Sarah or the smoothness of Ella. But Billie had something no one else had or could duplicate. She had a soul that was always on the verge of shattering into a million pieces. Her songs always brought me to the edge! She was/is one of a kind!

  • She bypasses all other organs and heads straight for the heart with her intoxicating siren songbird way.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Can't say enough about Billie! What a marvel. I was eight when she died, and didn't recognize her emotional intensity til I was in my early 20's. That first heartbreak brought me to Billie and I never left. She got me through some long and lonely nights! Thank you for uploading and I thank God for Billiie Holiday. Period!

  • Excellent , marvellous !!!

  • a truly magnificent rendition of the song by Lady Day ... such great emotional intensity within her voice ...
