The second in a series of short web videos aimed at landowners who want to manage their woodlots. This video examines how landowners can profit from a forest management plan and work with a registered forester to create and cultivate a healthy woodlot for hunting, recreation and other uses. • @tfcllc #3 is that when you are hiring a forester, you should be tapping into a LOT more than just local markets! Markets are important, and that note hits home on this video, but lets try and remember that forests represent more than just money growing on trees. Every organism on the planet relies on forests. Let us not forget history.

  • This is a very well done video, but there are three misleading points: #1 is that the forest should NOT be thought of as a "bank account" as there are far more values than just money attached to that resource - many of them more important that may easily be overlooked. #2 is the statement that suggests that a forest can be thinned every 10 years. Most forests in Michigan CANNOT be thinned every 10 years if they can be appropriately thinned at all.
