As a fan who wasn't there at the time, I'd say that this and Curtis' bigger hit sound to me like 1961 retro fantasies: "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" derived from the 50's, and "Under the Moon of Love" from the Depression. I prefer "Angel Eyes," but barely, and I think this record shows off his voice better.
@samspadexxx Shawaddywaddy was a british version of sha na na an oldies group that played woodstock the fillmore and had their own tv series with appearances by jan and dean and ronnie spector [ henry gross was in that group initialy then had his own hits]
It's hard to believe that a song this good never climbed higher than No. 46 on the national Billboard magazine charts. In my opinion, it's much better than his big hit, "Pretty Little Angel Eyes."
is it just me or did i see the first ever relevant ad before a video on youtube just then?!
