  • The people that speak "nice" about nursing homes are either employees, employees families, and there are those patients that are afraid to speak out. In SOME nursing homes and rehab facliities ---patients and families are not permitted to speak bad about nursing homes EVEN if there is truth in the speak. For truth, speak with those that have no current connection with nursing homes --those people that the nursing homes can not retaliate against. Nursing home employees are biased.

  • Get the bad guys!

  • @baysideful You posting raises some question? Like how old was you mom and what was here underlying diagnosis? A death via sepsis is not willed by any other human. As for nurses sitting about drinking coffee...I am thinking your projecting your own grief. Nurses need breaks and nutrition. I think their only mistake is not leaving the unit so they can be misjudged. Maybe in the future call the unit and as a so called stranger ask to know the percent of pts to caregiver. Sorry for your loss.

  • I'm so very confused~ giving morphine requires a doctors orders. Are these allegations indicating the nurses stole drugs and gave them MINUS a sensible doctors order? Hmmmmm somethings fishy here

  • @pdxeddie1111 True that. Around here, they offer a 6mos PSW course, and that course is comprised mostly of miserable cunts who don't want to work, but are forced into it by Social Services so they can continue to recieve assistance and drop-outs who see it as a quick way to get a license of some sort and make money. Then they get into the nursing homes and since they have no patient care skills or motivation, they treat the residents like shit.

  • @pdxeddie1111 A lot of this would be avoided with mandatory closed circuit camera monitoring. I know that would give a lot less privacy to the residents but they dont have much privacy anyways. The only thing is that the homes would say there is a cost factor but thats really an excuse cause those systems arent that expensive to make it an issue they just dont want the problems they could present. Anyways I think their insurance would go down a bit if the employees knew they were being watched

  • The low pay usually only attracts the bottom of the barrel, so why is anyone surprised? To be fair there are some excellent caregivers out there its just not the norm.

  • Yes! This goes on everyday! My dear Mother died of sepsis @ Kindred Central in Chicago..........this is a shame.....we must make a change....they just let these people lie there!! i bathed my Mother, etc. while the nurses had thier coffee on thier worktime! Sad......that this still happens.

  • . You make the complaint to to health dept. and the office for the aging and they send someone to investagate and they always come back and tell you that they saw nothing wrong. 9 out of 10 times you always get the say story from them.

NO-ONE CARES not even your goverment. Cut backs on nursing homes come from our goverment.
