WRITTEN BY JOE SOUTH-WENT TO # 4 IN 1968 BY DEEP PURPLE. LYRICS:
I got a certain little girl that's on my mind
Good God Almighty she looks so fine
She's the best girl that I ever had
Sometimes she's gonna make me feel so bad

Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
I need your love and I'm not to blame now

Love, love
They got it early in the morning
Love, love
They got it late in the evening
Love, love
Well, I want that needing
Love, love
Oh, I gotta get ahead of it

She's got a love like quicksand
Only took one touch of her hand
Blow my mind and I'm in so deep
That I can't eat and I can't sleep

Listen
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
Hush, hush
I need your love and I'm not to blame now

Love, love
They got it early in the morning
Love, love
They got it late in the evening
Love, love
Well, I want that needing
Love, love
Oh, I gotta get ahead of it

  • joe south challenged the conservative elements of the late 60's in Newcastle Australia. That valve fed bass still cuts a swaith through mediocrity of today. Thanks for posting. youngrascal

  • Does anyone how to play that intro guitar riff, I wanna learn it so bad,but no matter how i try i can't get that ringinn' sound. It seems to me that mr. South used a twelve string guitar for it. Is it so or not? If anyone know anything about it, please write me back.Please. Greetings from Russia

  • This is a very "slippery" video. =p

  • The na-nana-na part, Joe South stole from "The Beatles - A Day In The Life" which The Beatles started to record on the 19th January 1967. Check it out in W i k i p e d i a. There's a quite long article about "A Day In The Life".

  • For a country boy, Joe South rocks.

  • @onemisguidedrose No one does any song the way Joe does it! AWESOME.

  • @joeatkinson0 You mean Deep Purple. They did this after South, not the Who. Not trying to be a know-it-all, just making sure you know the facts. Cheers, keep rockin'.

  • much better than the who's version imho

  • The one I remember....
