i had a similar problem with my PhD supervisor I ended up leaving within 3 months, best decision I ever made. These sort of people just dont change....but if I was to go back in time I would have confronted him about his behaviour much earlier on.

I also worked in the engineering industry. After I had experienced psychologial bullying in my workplace, I sought some counselling and this particular counsellor concluded that there was nothing I could really do to change things, it was just the "nature of the beast". I thought that maybe it was true, it is just the nature of the industry and I should toughen up. That didn't really help me with my problems at work. Eventually I got very ill and diagnosed with depression.
