Be Inspired. Explore Culture, Enrich Potential, Eat Art.

Meet the Kapisanan Community.

Ji-an Manalo, is a poet, performer, and recording artist.

"Je m'appelle Ji-an Manalo" -- my name is Ji-an Manalo talagang ano mahilig ako mg sulat -- I enjoy writing. mahilig ako kumanta -- I also like to sing.

Writing is an expression for me, whenever I feel like I need to express an idea.

A piece that I've memorized.
"Intuitions, premonitions I'd be bring to my session..."
"... from the pot of golden knowledge, up in my secret storage. Hop in and join my voyage or miss out."

I don't know, can I just eat my chocolate.

I started working on my music in 2007. I had the opportunity to work part time as a teacher, and still work on my music.

I was born in Manila, then grew up in Mississauga. I decided to move to Quebec, and was like, why not move to France. Found myself in Nice, France, and decided to stay.

Poetry is our Second language, was put on while I would be in Canada. Talking about my Filipino culture in the songs, in my poetry, was something that was already brewing from before.

I learned about the Balagtasan: a traditional of debating in verse, in Filipino language.

Back in highschool, the main music I listen to is hip hop. I felt that they were able to express what was going on in their society, in such a funky way. That's when I decided I should try that.

"Google struggle and you'll find, shackled knuckles of the mind."

I really would like to see the systems change, in my lifetime, and I feel that through music it's possible.

Be inspired
