  • i heard this engine is free is it true

  • @alivape Yeah, it's free to download and make free games. If you want to sell your game, you have to pay the $99 fee and then after $5,000 in sales Epic gets 25% of what you make.

  • @jongaryrick no dude its 50,000.

  • @BackBurner144 It was $5,000 when I posted that comment, Epic had since upped it to $50,000.

I know this is one OLD ass comment I'm replying to, but your saying you get 100% of the profit from a commercial game, until you make £50,000, you sure its not 5? Everybody knows that only 1/100 UDK games are gonna be good enough to sell that well right? Which means, you basically pay £99 and the rest is yours? Thats crazy. Even if you sold your game at a fiver, and 3000 people bought it, thats not even CLOSE to £50,000, yet you've made a hefty £15,000.

  • @ncshuriken I just looked up the current licensing just to make sure it hasn't changed since last year. It's still completely free up to $50,000 USD, after that it's $2,500 on the NEXT $10,000 and then 25% after that. I'm not sure what they license is for the UK. You can check out the official information by going to UDK's website at udk[dot com]/licensing
