Governor Steve Beshear signed into law a landmark justice reform bill designed to decrease the state's prison population, reduce incarceration costs, reduce crime and increase public safety. HB 463 is estimated to save the Commonwealth $422 million over the next decade. The bill is the culmination of years of study and work to solve a complex problem: out-of-control corrections costs.
why don't they just tell the truth. they want marijuana legal so they can make money on it. they are doing it any ways. instead of putting people in jail for marijuana and loosing money. they are going to fine they and put them through probation to put money back into the state. step one is finallized. i just wish they would go ahead and put in medical marijuana or make it legal already and be done with it. this is a dirty trick and i don't like it but at the same time i do want marijuana legal

I think it's good that Kentucky's politicians are starting to wake up and make some good decisions.I also think it's a shame that Kentucky's prison population has to get so high before they think of what legislation will curb it. Mandatory jail time for an adult possessing marijuana for personal use is just, silly. Meth, Cocaine, Heroin and worst of all PHARMACEUTICALS are the real enemy's of addiction and problems. How much more money would the state save if they focused on those drugs instead?
