DESCRIPTION

In the 1990's, street skateboarding was on the rise, it even overshadowed the once dominant type of skateboarding called "vert" - as the preferred style. As street skating was quickly progressing, so was the small town Wasilla Alaska. By some statistics during this time frame, Wasilla was the fastest growing city in the United States. This movie tries to capture the surge of skateboarders that mirrored the growth of this frontier city during the 1990's.

As the popularity in skateboarding grew, so did the number of skateboarders in the streets. That is where a conflict was born - originally between the rights of business and the rights of skaters. As the conflict escalated, the skaters where becoming type cast as a bad element in the local community.

Youth were being cited by the local police for skateboarding in parking lots, on driveways and down sidewalks, even at their schools. Because of the sport's growing popularity, the need for a skate park quickly became apparent, but the City showed little interest. And as the complaints piled up, a law outlawing skateboarding was thrown on the table. That is when the skateboarding community took action and organized, they needed to prove that they were avaluable asset of the community rather than a fad.

This film attempts to document the story from the eye's of those involved.
