NO! Two layers DO NOT work!
There is no "spring" where they meet!
This is why you need three levels at the least!

did you put EVA foam on the bottom of the first layer of 1x4's? I have seen sprung dance floors done with three layers of 1x4's, do you feel that two layers has done a good job? What kind and thickness of wood did you use for the top layer? Lastly, do you know what kind of varnish you used to seal it? It looks like a beautiful floor! Thank you for posting this.

We bought standard materials from Lowes and Home Depot
We had installed a floor similar to this 3 times before for Studio NiaMoves in Houston (yes! we have had 3 difference locations!)
the difference with those are they are temporary - i.e. they can click out and go when we move
this one is permanent - symbolic of how we feel about RanchONia....
